Handy Tips
To ensure maximum operating efficiency of your BioCycle system:
- Power to the system should never be switched off.
- When purchasing household detergents, check that the product is either biodegradable or safe to use in a package treatment plant and septic tank.
- System efficiency is maximised if you clean the filter regularly. This only requires unscrewing the filter, washing it out and replacing it.
- Avoid using strong caustic acid or chemical detergents as they are harmful to natural biological processes.
- If possible, use phosphate-free detergents, as they are less harmful to the environment.
- Do not put newspapers, sanitary napkins, tampons or condoms into the system.
- Spread your washing loads over the week.
- Garbage disposal units will affect the performance of the system as extra water is created and raw vegetable fibre takes a long time to break down.
- Stop grass from growing over the BioCycle tank.
- Do not allow a build-up of soil on the lid of the tank.
- Never make adjustments to the system unless specified by BioCycle.
The BioCycle system is a natural biological process, so care must be taken not to destroy the bacteria within the system. With a little care, you will help the system and protect your environment.
